Joe "Sidehill" Gill
On the snow Joe goes by “sidehillgill”. He is the creator of the HCOfilms, Highcountry Octane Films brand. He started sledding in 1985 on a Yamaha Enticer 340 and has stayed involved in the sport ever since. He’s based out of Elko, NV, but has spent considerable time in California riding the Sierras. In his younger years, he spent 2 seasons guiding out of Sun Valley and Stanley, ID. He became involved with the “community” through SnoWest Forums and began an extensive career in sled film/photography in 2005. His brand H.C.O. came about around 2009. He produced his first sledfilm in 2010 and in the following years produced 7 full length films. He was the only 2-Time amatuer film winner at the SledFilm event in Oregon. With the death of dvds and rise in social media platforms, Joe ended his film producing and became a “content creator”. He picked up sponsorships over the years with 2Cool Airvents, Judged Gear, Pin’d Performance, BSB Fab, Dennis Dillon Powersports, Twin Pine Powersports but in the end chose to keep his sponsorships small and intimate to stay true to himself. He is the founder and organizer of the annual HCO SledFest at Bear Valley, California an event in California which now hosts the RMSHA season points championship race. Travel and adventure has been a big part of his sledding career and he has ridden/filmed in many states NV, CA, UT, CO, WY, ID. He has been active in the backcountry access battle and is well versed in access rights. More recently he has been putting on various styles of riding clinics and had been a guide with SledNV for the last two seasons. Rec 1 Certified Through AAI.
